It has been noted that more that 80% of women, are wearing the wrong bra size. Ladies with all of the various bits of information easily available out there, that number should not be so high. The reality then?
Just 20% of women wear the correct bra size suited for their breasts. Maybe we aren’t interested in what fits us well, or perhaps we just don’t have the time to figure it out with our busy lifestyles. Work – Home – School – Children – Parents and Parenting. Well quickly before you run off, let’s take a look at what it looks like when we wear the incorrect bra.
Breasts Spilling
If the bra cup is too small for your breast, then this is exactly what will happen – they will spill, both figuratively and in reality. This is one key indicator that the bra is the wrong size.
It’s too small, girlfriend. What is actually happening is the ‘girls’ are really sitting on your torso, and you may need to find as soon as possible a Bra fitter. In fact for some the bra may be pulled to cover the top but yet the breasts still spill out from other angles such as the bottom and or sides.
This simply means that the cup that you are wearing is not enough to hold your breasts.
What this spill will do is to cause your breast to swivel and swing about, and even cause further discomfort especially on your chest. Additionally, there is the possibility of sweat and perspiration building up and light bruising and cuts can occur.
Ensure that you get the best cup size for you.
Fastening The First Hook
On the back strap, the first hook is where it has to be fastened.
If this is your reality from the very first wear, then your bra is simply too big. Now, this may work for a bit of time, but be mindful that there will be Bra-Stretch. This is where your bra’s band starts to lose it elasticity and this happens over time. If you are already at that tightest hook from the beginning, just think about what will happen when the stretch starts to happen. Where will you now hook your bra’s band? This is not a comfortable fit if you have the wrong cup size in this mix either.
The back strap should be securely sitting in the middle of your back. If for some reason you have to be adjusting and working on repositioning the back-strap as it may have moved up to your armpits and shoulders, then you’ll need a smaller back size for your back strap. Apart from that, it is a most uncomfortable feeling as well, and the ability and timing to pull it back into position may not always be in our favor.
The ideal hook? When fitting your next bra – work with the middle one in the middle instead.
How Thin Are Your Shoulder Straps?
I am sure that many of us have had issues with this before. Too thin shoulder straps have caused those of us with more cleavage issues such as our breasts sitting way too low and below where they should ideally be. These types of shoulder straps if too thin will not be able to offer any support.
There is also the possible pain factor as well, since the weight of our breasts pull on these thin straps but then they dig into our shoulders and cause discomfort. As a result some of us may then want to wear our shoulder straps slacker, and this offers little benefit since our breasts now hang even further down.
These straps may even fall off as well at times – Gosh!!! Ack!!!
Where is the comfort then, as if our breasts are full sized, then we could experience shoulder pain from the weight of our breast not being well supported. This also can lead to indentations in our skin or even shoulder and back pain. If after a long day and you take off your bra and realize the significant imprint in our skin or shoulders then yep the shoulder straps are too thin.
So Here’s The Game Plan
We’ll start out getting a proper fitting and purchasing our right bra size. This is after coming to grips with our breast reality. Now it has been recommended to get a bra fitting or at least a re-measure of ourselves every six months or so. Remember our bodies go through several changes, pregnancy, hormonal changes, water retention, breast-feeding and even age and exercise, and these can all impact our bra size.
Next time you go for your bra don’t be afraid to work with the stylist in store and get a proper store fitting done. Whether its to manually adjust your breasts, and to move the breast from the outer sides up and inward in the cup. This all lends to getting a proper fit. Let’s do it ladies, and with panache.
