Three Easy Tips to Ease Trapezius Pain
As much as some of us may have that other proverbial pain in the neck, or where ever that pain maybe, we really want to help you ease the true pain in the neck.
If you have ever slept in the wrong position or used your upper back too much, you’ll know just how much of a pain in the neck trapezius pain can be. The trapezius is a large triangular muscle in your upper back that is largely responsible for your neck movements. Read on to find out how to ease pain in this muscle fast (at home).
1: The first tip.
Stretch the muscle out using yoga poses. The looser this muscle is, the less prone it is to tightness and injury. Stretching works best for preventing injury in muscles. Hold each stretch for 15-30 seconds. Stretching should feel refreshing, it should not hurt. If you feel any pain, stop immediately.
The cat stretch, hug stretch, and ear-to-shoulder stretch target the trapezius muscle.
2: Our second tip?
Hot and cold compresses! When you apply an ice pack to the afflicted area, it will help to decrease any swelling or inflammation in the area, which could greatly ease your trapezius pain. Your other option is a hot compress, which promotes blood flow and allows the muscle to relax, which allows the injured area to recover faster.
3: Taping
Taping is another secret to putting a permanent end to trapezius pain. Taping involves apply stretchy elastic to the painful area to remove pressure from the muscle. Studies have found that taping can reduce pain in only 24 hours. This is perfect if you are looking for relief fast. In addition to taping, you can use over-the-counter medications to manage pain.
There are also topical creams on the market that can reduce pain greatly.
Trapezius pain isn’t such a hassle once you have found effective way to treat it. These home remedies can have you (and your trapezius!) on the mend in no time.
